Vocational Qualification Approval Process for Sector Qualifications
There is a new Vocational Qualification (VQ) approvals process which has been designed for all VQs (except for those in Scotland). The regulatory arrangements for the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) sets out the need for sector skills council (SSC) approval as part of the accreditation process.
The new system is a more streamlined process which formalises the role of SSC support in a way that provides transparency and consistency for all. It is based around early dialogue between the Awarding Organisations and the SSC, and is designed to ensure that all vocational qualifications meet the requirements of the sector National Occupational Standards (NOS), sector qualifications strategy and action plan. This will help to ensure that the sector has robust, fit for purpose qualifications and a well skilled workforce able to meet the challenges of their roles.
Our VQ Approvals manual (available to download below) outlines the process, and any Awarding Organisation wishing to develop a qualification within the Justice, Legal and Community Safety sector should consult the manual and submit a completed approval form to us (available to download and complete below).
